Editorial governance

Independence needs a visible process.

Other Billionaires is an evidence-led publication about public wealth records. This page explains who is accountable for a finding, how a claim is reviewed, and what we do when the available evidence is not enough to support a number.

Current publication status

Other Billionaires is currently an independent, unincorporated editorial project. Legal publisher details will be added following incorporation.

01 / Research status

A source-derived annual index is not our final valuation system.

The current annual directory is retained as a dated, provisional external reference while its use and the publication’s own valuation methodology are under review. It is not represented as an independently calculated Other Billionaires estimate.

The importer for that edition is frozen. Production pages read a checked-in snapshot; they do not make a live third-party request and no additional automated synchronizations will run while the review is open. Values and ranks from that source are labeled provisional and are being replaced, record by record, only where a governed evidence file supports an independent calculation.

Visible provisional status

External-reference values are not described as verified editorial findings.

First-party valuation file

Independent estimates require a valuation date, asset basis, ownership evidence, known liabilities, sources, review date and methodology version.

No silent substitution

A new figure or rank is published only with a traceable basis and a dated revision record.

02 / What we publish

Reporting, attribution and a finding are different things.

Reported fact

A source says something happened or makes a claim. We identify the source and do not turn that alone into a valuation conclusion.

Attributed public claim

A claim may be documented as background when it is relevant, but remains visibly unverified if we have not substantiated it.

Editorial finding

A conclusion reached after the evidence file supports the scope, date and subject of the stated fact or estimate.

Unverified public claims are excluded from rankings, aggregate totals, title tags, meta descriptions, social cards and structured monetary data. A research profile may remain public because the absence of a supported valuation is itself useful context; it does not make the claim true.

“Other Billionaires Research Desk” is used as an organizational byline only for substantively edited research articles. Template directory pages are not presented as authored articles.

03 / Source hierarchy

The relevant source matters more than repetition.

01

Primary records

Regulatory, court, exchange, government and company records are used to establish discrete facts such as ownership, office, transactions or legal status.

02

Independent reporting

Established financial and news publications may support a dated estimate or reported event when their sourcing is clear and relevant to the claim.

03

Research context

Academic and authoritative historical sources can explain context, but do not automatically establish a current personal valuation.

04

Attributed background

Company, family or subject material may be used as attributed background. It is not, on its own, evidence for a personal net-worth finding.

We do not use SEO listicles, unattributed aggregators or self-published valuation assertions as stand-alone support for a personal net-worth finding. Access limitations, paywalls, bot blocks and unavailable records are reported as such; they are not treated as evidence that a claim is true or false.

04 / Sensitive claims

High-impact claims receive a higher review threshold.

Financial and ownership claims

We separate company scale, control, client assets, family wealth and beneficial ownership from an individual’s personal net worth.

Legal and political matters

We distinguish allegation, charge, plea, conviction, sentence, dismissal, pardon and current status. A source must support the precise term used.

Family history and succession

Lineage, shared wealth and inherited ownership are not inferred from a surname, public profile or a broad family estimate.

Conflicts and representations

Subjects and representatives may submit evidence or identify a conflict. The submission is evaluated against the same published standard and does not control the finding.

Before publication or a material update, financial, legal, political and family-history claims require editorial review for source relevance, wording, date context and limitations. When the available evidence is incomplete, we narrow the claim, attribute it, label it unverified or decline to publish it as a finding.

05 / Corrections

A correction changes the public record, not just the wording.

Material changes to wealth status, ranking eligibility, legal matters, ownership claims or evidence classification are logged publicly with the affected URL, date, prior and revised finding, reason and relevant sources.

We may correct factual errors, add missing context, remove a conclusion that no longer meets the standard, or revise a status when stronger or contradictory evidence becomes available. Minor formatting and typographic adjustments are not normally logged.

06 / Contact and conflicts

Show us the claim and the evidence.

To request a correction, send the page URL, the exact statement, your proposed correction and a dated public record or reputable source. To report a potential conflict, identify the relevant coverage and the relationship that may affect it. A submission is reviewed on its merits; receipt does not guarantee a change.
